According to the world bank "only five [South Sudanese] girls per ten boys enroll in secondary education." The global pandemic has only made matters worse for many South Sudanese girls. As our founders saw school shut downs, we all knew that their would be an increase of challenges to get South Sudanese girls back in school during the shut downs. But we also knew that months of shut down robbed many students of opportunities to connect, build and network.
With the challenges in mind, our founders decided to create a mentorship program to not only help increase girl education enrollments but assist them in their education journey by providing mentorship, opportunities to increase their network, leadership development exercises, and give them a way to connect virtually.
Our next step was to educate our community on our ideas, gain insight and curate the program. We are thankful to our advisors who helped us shape this program, the parents who took the time to learn about our program and to the mentors who joined us.
